Acupuncture
Traditional acupuncture is based on ancient Chinese theories of the flow of Qi (Energy) and Xue (Blood) through distinct meridians or pathways that cover the body. These meridians are connected to the body’s organs. According to ancient theory, acupuncture allows Qi to flow to areas where it is Deficient and away from where it is Excess. It is like a river that has been dammed, there is a blockage which can occur due to a trauma (injury), emotional reasons, poor diet or lifestyle imbalances. On one side of the dam there is the lake, an excess condition of stagnation (such as pain), the water or Qi is not able to move. On the other side of the dam the water is reduced to a trickle or a deficiency/weakness. Through acupuncture the points are gently stimulated, opening the dam allowing the river, or Qi, to flow smoothly and be balanced on both sides restoring the harmonious energetic balance of the body.
In Chinese there is a saying:
“There is no pain if there is free flow; if there is pain, there is no free flow.”
